Who is Uploader designed for?
Uploader is designed for small, medium and large businesses who require a highly secure file transferring application to send and receive confidential documents.
Why is it better to send confidential files via Uploader than email?
When sending files via email, the email and attached files are saved on several servers on route to the recipient. If the sender has not taken any steps to encrypt the files, they are easily accessible to any person with sufficient technical know-how. Uploader enables businesses to send and receive highly confidential documents securely both internally and externally.
Secondly, unlike Email Servers which are customised to limit the size of files to four to ten megabytes to reduce the risk of malfunctioning, Uploader allows users to send a number of large files simultaneously without imposing size restrictions or time delays.
How does Uploader offer such a high level of file security?
Uploader employs two measures to ensure a high level of security:
- All traffic is transferred through the secure HTTP protocol using Secure Socket Layering (SSL) and
- All files are encrypted by a replay-limited end-to-end 128 bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) system. File encryption takes place before files are being stored on the server thus preventing read access by any interested party including system admin.
How much disk space is required to house and run Uploader?
Technically, there is no minimum amount of disk space required to house and run Uploader. However, all files will be stored locally so the more space that is available on the company server, the more space that is available for users to upload and download files.
Iam a sole business owner/operator and file security is critical to the operation of my business. Do you have a payment plan to suit my needs?
Certainly. One of our pricing packages, the ASP (Application Service Provider) style, is tailored to meet the structure and needs of small and medium businesses. With this option, businesses do not have to worry about all the technical issues related to hosting a server. You only have to pay for the service depending on the amount of data you will be using. For detailed price information of this option, please see Here.
Which version of Uploader suits me?
Uploader is available in two versions, Standard and Premium. The Standard design is a HTML version which is easy to use and requires a standard browser and no extra plug-in installations. File size is limited to two gigabytes due to the HTML specification constraint, still ample compared to the four to eight megabyte file size restriction imposed by Email servers. All data is transferred through the secure HTTP protocol using SSL.
The Premium design is a JavaTM Applet1 version which was designed to allow for unlimited file size upload. The Applet version requires Java Runtime which is an extra plugin available as a free download from the Sun website. All traffic is transferred through the secure HTTP protocol using SSL and all files are encrypted via the AES system.
What are the requirements to host Uploader?
1. Uploader is a platform independent application and can be installed on different operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and diverse variations of Unix. The following is also needed:
- Java: JRE 5.0 or above
- Web server: Apache Tomcat version 5.0 or above
- Database server: MySQL version 5.0 or above
What are the requirements to access and use Uploader?
Uploader is browser independent meaning it is compatible with various browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Chrome and others.
Is Uploader available in different languages?
Uploader is currently available in English, German & Japanese. Other languages coming soon are French, Italian, Indonesian and Chinese. Any other languages are available upon request.
Can our corporate identity be integrated into Uploader?
The colour scheme and logo of the company can be integrated into the Uploader interface so that the application appears to be an extension of the company website and/or corporate identity.
Does Uploader have a built in statistics and reporting mechanism?
Users with administration rights can generate an Uploader usage report which details the date and time of the upload, the name of the user, the recipient/s, the file name/s and size and the expiry date after which the file will no longer be available for download. This can be generated for any monthly period.
A statistics section also allows admin to view the total amount of uploads and downloads (presented both in file size and number of files) over a certain period including the last 24 hours, the last week, the last month and the last year. This is presented in tabular format. In addition, the statistics section presents disk space remaining in the form of a pie chart and the amount of uploads and downloads in graphical format.
Does Uploader come with an integrated virus scanner?
Uploader comes with an interface for integration to an Open Source virus detector which scans all files for viruses or malicious software such as Trojan horses before every upload.
What if my employees misuse Uploader to send illegal files?
For lawful investigation purposes, it is possible to decrypt files using a combination of special forensic tool software, unique password access and administration rights. For security purposes, these are distributed among three different stake holders within the company.
We are a medium/large company and have our own IT department. Can we host Uploader on our own server? What are the pricing options?
Yes, our pricing options allow for own server installation. The pricing is based on the number of users. Please see Here for detailed pricing information.
Can I get a free trial version to try?
Absolutely! Go to the homepage and you will find a link called “Get Free Trial”. You can try a free online version straight away!
